Someone recently asked me if I am a vegetarian or a pescatarian, since they see a lot of vegetarian and seafood recipes on here. Well, here’s my answer to that question:
We had a steak that almost took up a permanent residence in our freezer after we made this Steak with Fresh Herbs over two months ago. It was time for the steak to get evicted, except I didn’t know what to make with it – I was sure that thawing it and cooking it would result in tough meat. Luckily, I came across this video that talked about frying frozen steak without thawing it.
We tried it, and it came out awesome! It was more tender than the first time we cooked the steak when it was fresh. It didn’t taste greasy either, just tender and delicious.
From now on we will definitely be buying larger chunks of meat because that is cheaper, freezing what we don’t use, and then frying the rest when we are ready. No need to plan ahead. Want steak for dinner? Just grab one out of the freezer and fry it.
Check out the video below for more detail and for safety tips on how to avoid a grease fire:
Have you ever cooked a steak from frozen without defrosting? Are you willing to try it?
