¾cupsfreshly squeezed lime juice(from 6-8 large limes - get more limes just in case so you have enough lime juice!)
¾cupscherry simple syrup(see notes for instructions)
4-5cupswater(or sparkling water)
Ice for serving
Fresh basil or mint, or cherriesfor garnish
Instructions
Combine ¾ cups lime juice, ¾ cup cherry syrup, and 3 to 4 cups water in a large bowl or pitcher. Stir together, then add up to 1-2 more cups water (to taste), and additional syrup or lime juice, to taste.
Chill, and serve over ice, garnishing with lime slices or wedges, fresh mint leaves or basil leaves.
Notes
To make cherry simple syrup: Combine 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup or tart cherry juice in a small saucepan or pot. Bring to a light boil, stirring a few times to prevent burning. Then lower the heat, and allow to simmer uncovered, for 15-20 minutes, or until it thickens into a simple syrup. Remove from heat and allow to cool before using, or substitute some of the water for the limeade with ice, so that you don't end up with warm limeade.
